2027 Toyota TRD Pro Lineup Gets Hot Honey, Honeycomb and Key Off-Road Upgrades

Toyota announced several changes for the 2027 Tundra just one week ago, and now the company is revealing what is coming to the rest of the 2027 Toyota TRD Pro lineup. The latest updates include two bold exterior colors, upgraded FOX suspension components and, finally, front tow hooks for the Tundra TRD Pro.

For 2027, Toyota Honeycomb will be available on the Tundra TRD Pro, Tacoma TRD Pro and Sequoia TRD Pro. The 2027 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro receives a slightly different version of the orange-inspired color called Hot Honey.

Both colors should be difficult to miss.

Toyota Adds More Color to the TRD Pro Lineup

Toyota has made its annual TRD Pro color an important part of the company’s off-road identity. Recent special colors have included Terra, Mudbath and the blue-green Wave Maker offered for 2026.

Personally, I have yet to see many Wave Maker Toyota TRD Pro models on the road. Maybe the warmer orange tones of Honeycomb and Hot Honey will create more excitement among buyers.

Honeycomb looks particularly good on Toyota’s larger off-road vehicles. It gives the 2027 Tundra TRD Pro and 2027 Sequoia TRD Pro a strong visual presence without relying on another predictable gray, black or white exterior.

Hot Honey gives the 2027 4Runner TRD Pro its own variation rather than simply applying the same paint across every vehicle. The difference appears subtle, but it gives the new 4Runner a slightly more distinctive identity.

The 2027 Tundra TRD Pro Finally Gets Tow Hooks

The most talked-about addition may be the new standard red front tow hooks on the 2027 Tundra TRD Pro and Sequoia TRD Pro.

The lack of easily accessible front recovery hooks on the current-generation Tundra has been an ongoing complaint from full-size truck buyers. Toyota has finally addressed it for 2027.

Is this a major issue for me? Not really. However, full-size truck customers seemingly need visible tow hooks to make a truck feel properly “truckish.” Beyond their appearance, the hooks can provide a practical front recovery point when the vehicle is being used off-road.

Toyota is also making smaller updates to the 2027 Tundra, including revised grille details and an added home button for the multimedia system. None of these changes completely reinvent the truck, but together they show Toyota continuing to refine the current platform.

New FOX QS3 Shocks Improve TRD Pro Capability

The more important mechanical upgrade involves newly designed, vehicle-specific FOX enhanced QS3 shocks for the 2027 Tundra TRD Pro and Sequoia TRD Pro.

Toyota says the updated suspension is engineered to improve feel, stability and adjustability over rough terrain. QS3 technology allows drivers to manually adjust compression damping, making it possible to better match the suspension settings to different terrain and driving conditions.

Toyota’s ISO-Dynamic Performance Front Seats will also be available for the Tundra and Tacoma TRD Pro. These seats use an air-over-oil damping system designed to reduce body movement and support occupants during aggressive off-road driving.

Toyota Still Has a Bigger Tundra Concern

New paint, better shocks and front tow hooks are welcome, but Toyota still must rebuild confidence surrounding the Tundra’s 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6.

The engine’s recall history and reported failures continue to hang over the current-generation Toyota Tundra. Knowing Toyota, the company will continue working to correct the problem and restore its reputation for quality. Buyers will likely place more importance on long-term engine durability than any new paint color.

Pricing and complete specifications for the 2027 Toyota Tundra and 2027 Toyota Sequoia will be announced closer to the beginning of production in fall 2026.

Honeycomb and Hot Honey bring some welcome personality to the 2027 Toyota TRD Pro lineup. The new FOX shocks matter more on the trail, but that splash of orange may be exactly what Toyota needs to attract some fresh attention in dealerships.
