Last August, I set out from Nashville for the 2nd annual Bronco Stampede. The three-hour drive offered scenic views of Tennessee’s rolling hills—and plenty of unpredictable drivers—setting the tone for what would be an interesting day.
Year 1: A Work in Progress
The first year of the Stampede showed promise but lacked attendance. Despite securing big-name sponsors, the event struggled to get the word out about how great it could be. Justin, the event organizer, also runs the Jeep Invasion—an event that brings 10,000–20,000 Wranglers to Pigeon Forge. Knowing it would take time to grow, Kelly and I kept our expectations in check for Year 1.
Year 2: Signs of Growth?
As I pulled into town, I didn’t see many Broncos cruising around—a sign that attendance might be low. After navigating a sudden downpour, we picked up our press badges and entered the main building. Familiar brands like Diabolical Inc, Oracle Lights, and Havoc Offroad occupied the same spots as last year, and the vendors I spoke with had a positive outlook.
Newcomers like IAG Offroad made a big impression with their massive semi-rig display, and while their sales were strong, overall attendance still felt underwhelming. JJ from IAG confirmed it was worth the trip for them, yet as I walked around, I didn’t get the sense that attendees were fully engaged or excited.
After a conversation with the event coordinator, I learned that it took about four years for the Jeep event to gain traction. With that in mind, I’ll keep an eye on the Bronco Stampede to see if it builds the same level of excitement in the aftermarket scene.
